Who am I, and What is Artful Analog About?
Whether you think you are creative or not, I hope you find inspiration here! Everyone has the ability to express themself creatively in some way. That’s what Artful Analog is about.
I’m Pam, a wife, mom to two adult kids and a seriously lacking (but not hopeless) follower of Jesus Christ. I’m an introvert, but I love to make connections, and this is a safe place to do that. So, I would love for you to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest,or by email, so that we can stay connected! Contact me at pam@anartfulmom.com
I started this site in 2011 as An Artful Mom, at the encouragement of a family member. I had no idea at that time how much it would grow and change, as I grew and changed. As my kids got older and I returned to some of my previous analog pursuits – calligraphy, lettering, journaling, pens, and art – my site began to reflect more of my interests, so I changed my site’s name to Artful Analog. (But, if you forget and go to anartfulmom.com, you’ll still end up here!) I’ve met so many wonderful people along the way. Artful Analog is an eclectic place, where everyone is welcome. I hope you’ll find a creative project or idea here that inspires you.

Some of the Topics You’ll Find Here
I love many kinds of calligraphy and lettering, with all kinds of pens. So, you’ll find some posts here about italic calligraphy, pointed pen calligraphy (including modern calligraphy), brush calligraphy, and even calligraphy with fountain pens!
I’ve also been appreciating the benefits of journaling and have amassed quite a few fountain pens that I use daily for that, too. (Actually I have many types of pens! I love all the pens. But, I’ve become an avid collector of fountain pens, and I do tend to geek out about them a little.) So, if you love pens, stationery and journaling, you’re definitely in the right place!
I love photography, with a capital LOVE. Although I rely on my phone for photography a lot more than I used to [the phone cameras are so good now!] my DSLRs will always be a part of my life. I hope you find a bit of inspiration from some of the photography info here at the site.
There are also plenty of home and garden posts, focused on living a creative and organized home life. Included in those are posts with pet tips from the years our furry family members were with us. Many of the home and garden posts were written by outside sources. I choose the posts based on whether my readers will find them useful or interesting.
A few factoids about me:
- In high school, I was so shy I was often thought to be “stuck up.” Ouch! The funny thing about that is, I never had the self confidence to be stuck up, even if I had wanted to be! These days, I’m the quiet one who can’t stop talking once you get to know me.
- I’m terrified of public speaking, but my job right before I had my kids required presentations to medical professionals on a regular basis. Way outside of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it! Confident on the outside, shaking on the inside.
- My degree is in Psychology (and at one point I had planned to be a school psychologist), a minor in Speech Pathology, and I completed teacher training, with an emphasis on learning disabilities, while a “stay at home mom.” (As you can probably tell, I wasn’t extremely decisive when I was young. Not even slightly decisive. Or maybe I just liked too many things. Or both!)
